We will endeavour to ensure that any of the information we gather regarding job-seekers, clients and others shall remain private and confidential in line with Australian Privacy Law.
How we collect the personal information and the type of information that we collect
BTR may collect personal information through (and not limited to) an online application, email, phone registration or registration.
We collect information such as (but not limited to) your name, contact details, employment history, qualifications, employment objectives and references. Other sensitive information (as listed in the Australian Privacy Act 1988) including criminal record, disability and union or professional membership will only be disclosed with your consent.
As a provider of recruitment services BTR primarily collects personal information to enable the placement of job seekers and assist job seekers in finding work.
If you choose not to provide BTR with all the information we seek this will limit our ability to find you suitable employment.
Where possible the purpose of collecting personal information will be made clear at the time of collection. We are committed to only collecting personal information when a job-seeker or client knowingly provides it.
Purpose for why we hold your information and how we disclose it
As set out in this Privacy Policy, BTR may use the disclosed personal information for the purpose it was collected. In doing so we will only use and disclose this information to:
- To assist you in finding a suitable position (potential employers, employees or nominated referees).
- To enable BTR to improve their services they currently provide to job seekers and clients.
- To provide the services you have requested from BTR
- To maintain your relationship with BTR by informing you of events, services and possible job opportunities.
- Any person or body to which we are required by law to disclose information.
- To competent organisation that conducts criminal record checks (provided that the organisation undertakes to comply with privacy laws and keep all information supplied to the organisation confidential).
- To third parties, who comply with privacy laws, where there is a requirement for a background check or other check to be undertaken (educational organisations to verify qualifications or psychometric evaluations).
- To improve our customer service and to identify any training requirements
Data Security
We will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss or unauthorised access or disclosure. We hold this information in a combination of secure computer storage and paper-based files. Any information that we no longer have use for will be destroyed. We are required by law to preserve some information.
Access can be formerly requested by contacting our Privacy Officer, you may be required to complete a written application to verify your identity. A moderate charge is applicable for gaining access to this information. We can remove your information from our database if requested which may take some time to process.
If your personal information changes, please contact our privacy officer and we will update and correct the information that we hold. We may also contact you from time to time to check that the information you have provided is still correct.
